In a snapshot:
Scandalous. Completely new, refreshing, never read anything quite like it.
Fiery, truthful & full of passion.
The book that has been on everyone's agenda coming into 2022 & has graced every top recommends list around that somewhere along the line it also managed to slip onto my ever growing 'To Read' list & shot straight up to the top. & was all of this madness worth it? Oh, YES!
This book is one of a kind - it keeps you on your toes by being completely unpredictable that I have got to be careful to not give anything away by simply speaking about it! Warning to you now: it is un-put-downable.
'I'm under absolutely no obligation to make sense to you.'
- Taylor Jenkins Reid
Taylor Jenkins Reid has written a book that could be discussed in many ways, from many perspectives whilst having multiple characters that are so wonderfully themselves you can have nothing but complete admiration for each of them. It leaves you filled with confidence, with love & passion, to be true to our own self.
'People think that intimacy is about sex. But intimacy is about truth. When you realise you can tell someone your truth, when you can show yourself to them, when you stand in front of them bare and their response is 'you're safe with me' - that's intimacy.'
- Taylor Jenkins Reid
From tears to trauma, to shining lights & stardom, you can not help but ride the wave of emotions with the characters as the story itches on. Whilst the way it has been written is nothing short of clever; with modern day life woven in with the Golden Age of Hollywood - Evelyn Hugo most certainly has a life worth reading about.
